The Upcoming Football Video Game That Plunges you Into the Seedy World of Match Fixing

Video games and football have gone hand in hand for decades, with games like FIFA 13, Pro Evolution Soccer and Football Manager hitting the bestseller lists year on year, giving players the chance to play at managing or playing as their favourite teams.

A new game that is currently under development aims to turn the football management game on its head, taking players deep into the sinister underworld of football corruption and allowing them to play as a shady match fixer.

Game Changer – The Football Match Fixing Game is being made for iOS and Android mobile and tablet devices, and will be made available in early 2014 if the developers successfully gain funding with their upcoming campaign on popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

In Game Changer, you can bribe players, pay off police and officials, blackmail referees and do all kinds of other interesting and immoral things to try and ensure the results you want, and then make a fortune by betting on your fixed outcomes.

As you grow in influence in the criminal underworld, you can fix games in bigger and more prestigious leagues around the world to gain higher profits, as well as being able to team up with crime boss characters and even your real life friends (thanks to social media integration) to get better results.

The game promises to blend elements of conventional football games and sims with the kind of stories and gameplay you normally see in crime games and RPGs, as well as featuring a sophisticated gambling system that allows you to implement all kinds of interesting strategies to make your fortune.

The developers, Game Changer Games, are also keen to make sure the game contains plenty of dark humour, because match fixing is, after all, a pretty horrible thing.

If you are interested in finding out more about the plans for Game Changer and the Kickstarter campaign that will hopefully make the game possible, you can check out the official website at www.gamechangergame.com or follow the developers’ official Twitter account @gamechangergame.

Dede: Towering Brazilian Attracting Some Of Europe’s Biggest Names

Brazil have created some of the most talented and gifted footballers over the years. The likes of Pele, Falcao, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo have all dazzled the world with their samba brilliance, yet their footballing history has possibly been too top heavy. Too many attackers, not enough defenders to be held in such wondrous regard.

Even full-backs, Roberto Carlos, Carlos Alberto and Cafu have been marvelled at, but not centre-backs. Anybody but the centre-back, the unheralded job that provided the base to a side seemingly not cool enough for Brazilian recognition.

But now, with Bayern Munich’s Dante, Chelsea’s David Luiz and PSG’s Thiago Silva, that is all due to change. The Brazilian centre-back is entering a new age; big, physical, strong and extremely comfortable on the ball, they are all attributes that makes up the aforementioned trio as well as Dede, Cruzerio’s much-coveted 24 year old. Who is he?

Let’s take a look at Anderson Vital De Silva.

Background

After impressing with his hometown club Volta Rotunda in the Brazilian State Championship, the big defender earned himself a move to Vasco De Gama in 2009, only to find first team opportunities hard to come by upon his initial arrival. With his one year deal running out a year later, it looked like he may be returning to Volta, or even moving to South Korea.

Dede, however, had other ideas, “there was something I was determined upon” he told World Soccer Magazine back in 2011, “I wasn’t going to leave Vasco by the back door”. And so he didn’t, with injuries hitting the club in a Brazilian Cup game against Vitoria, he was given a chance, repaying the opportunity with a performance of such authority and assurance that it instantly certified him as first choice and earned himself a new contract, stretching to 2014.

He went on to produce some imperious form for Vasco, being recognised as the best right centre-back in the Brasileirao of 2010 and generating comparisons to the Fluminese-made Silva, then at Milan, who was widely-regarded as the most outstanding centre-half to recently hail from Brazil.

His commanding performances helped Vasco to win the 2011 Brazilian Cup and his partnership with Anderson Martins saw them both elected as the best central-defenders of the 2011 Campeonato Carioca. His impressive form also alerted former national-team coach Mano Menezes who included him in the squad for friendlies against Germany and Ghana in the autumn of 2011.

His transformation with Vasco from potential discarded talent was meteoric. By the end of 2012, he was considered as one of the best centre-backs in Brazilian football, seeing high acclaim from Vasco fans who endeared to him by giving him several nicknames; “O-Mito” (The Myth) and “Dedelicia” (or “Dedelicious” as female fans chose).

He was included in numerous advertising campaigns for the club and was elected by SBT, a Brazilian television network, as one of the 100 greatest Brazilian’s of all-time. His popularity in Vasco was clear and he honoured his potential departure by kissing the badge in one of his final games for the club. In total, he made 154 appearances for Vasco.

To date, Dede has received 7 caps for the Brazil national team, appearing often in friendlies and tournaments that are only eligible for native-based players, allowing him to win the Superclasico De Las Americas in September 2011.

Dede is currently the fourth-choice centre-half in the Brazil squad and he will be hoping that his exemplary performances, partnered with Luiz Felipe Scolari’s insistence that he will look more to the Brazilian league set-up for options, will help his cause for regular call-ups as the team head into a World Cup year.

Strengths, style and weaknesses

Dede is strong, powerful and athletic, making full-use of his 6ft 3 inch frame in order to be adept at winning challenges in the air or on the ground. His height means that not many strikers are able to beat him in the air whilst a fine reading of the game, impressive at the relatively young age of 24, sees him able to cut out danger on the ground. His imposing height also makes him a threat at set pieces, suggested by his 18 goals during his time at Vasco.

His extremely impressive pace also means that he is rarely out-foxed by the through ball, cutting out the threat that strikers pose lying on the shoulder of the back four. As well as boasting fine intelligence and strength to block and intercept many shots and dangerous passes, he also possesses superb technical ability that allows him to be comfortable in bringing the ball out of the defence and moving it on.

As well as the two nicknames Vasco fans creatively derived for Dede, they also named him “Dedekenbauer”, suggesting his likeliness to the famous German defender who revolutionised the role of the central-defender, operating on a fine reading of the game, imperious positioning and superb ability on the ball.

Dede really is a complete defender who has attracted the interest of Manchester United, Milan, Benfica and Liverpool during his time with Vasco, all top European clubs basing their interest in the knowledge that Dede, with his physicality and ability on the ball, would not look out of place on the continent should he ever head east from Brazil.

His move to Cruzeiro

With the Selecao heading into their home World Cup of 2014, Dede has seen best to stay in his native league and head to Cruzeiro in a deal that is worth £4.7 million. The two clubs are believed to have arranged a 55% and 45% share in player ownership which helps to ease cash-strapped Vasco’s financial troubles. Three players, Diego Rennan, striker Allison and Wellington Paulista will also head to Rio in exchange for the defender.

After moving, he voiced his reluctance to leave Vasco De Gama but understood such a move would help to aid the financial crisis at his former club. He said that even though he was moving to a new setting, his heart would remain with the Rio-based club.

There has been a financial dispute with the transfer, with the move being blocked by the FERJ, a main football institution from Rio, who claim Vasco owe a debt to the Brazilian Federal Justice. They have ruled that until the dispute is sorted, Dede is unable to play for any club, disrupting his immediate start with Cruzeiro. However, that will only be a small snag in a career that threatens to go very far.

Look out for Dede at next year’s World Cup.

PSG: A Guide To Their Legendary Home – Parc Des Princes

Paris attractions have tempted visitors to the city for decades. More recent additions to an already very long list of ancient monuments and other Parisian attractions are the likes Disney World and the Parc de Prince stadium.

The stadium was built to replace the old Vélodrome built in 1897 which stood on this impressive site till the Parc was built. Today, major football (such as Paris st Germain home games) and rugby matches take place at the Parc and then there are the concerts!

George Pompidou, the then president, opened the Parc des Prince on 4th June 1972 with the first match ever to be played on these hallowed grounds being the Coupe de France final, a match played between SC Bastia and Olympique de Marseille – which the latter won. The stadium was filled to capacity – the whole 48,527 seats.

Parc de Prince - Paris

A Stadium That Won Awards

The Architecture was considered very Avant garde winning both the building and the architect many prizes. Roger Taillibert was the Architect; the 50 concrete columns supporting the roof were his brainchild and the reason why so many architectural awards were won.

Getting to the Parc

Getting to the Parc by Metro is easily done – the stop to get out at is the Porte de Saint-Cloud station from line 9 – the stadium is just a five minute walk from there. From central Paris, line 9 goes through the city centre – on the north bank.

By bus from the centre of Paris, there’s a choice of three, the 22, 62 and 72 which go to Porte de Saint-Cloud. The actual address of the Parc des Princes is 24, Rue du Commandant Guilbaud, 75781 Paris.

Where to Stay & Where Eat

The neighbourhood around the Parc has a typical Parisian ambiance with many bars and brasseries on most of the street corners – as per usual, the food served is very good.

Hotel wise there are many in the vicinity of the Parc. However, it might not be a good idea to stay too close because of the inevitable noise from the stadium. However, with two metro lines close by, it is easy to get into the centre of town without any effort or trouble.

Full capacity at the Parc

How to purchase Tickets

You can buy tickets for PSG games by going online or you can call the stadium directly. Another method is at the stadium itself from any of the PSG service points. The cost of a ticket can range from anything between €20.00 to €100.00.

Conclusion

Organised tours around the Parc last around an hour and includes being taken through the dressing rooms, players’ tunnel where many a famous sportsman has tread. Visitors also get to see the VIP boxes and admire the fabulous cups and shields in the trophy room. For air travel it’s important to do some flight comparison checks to make sure you get the best deals.

Tours are organised three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They start at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm although occasionally there’s a guided tour organised for 6pm.

Tours take place every day during the school holidays except Sundays. However, there are no tours on match days or the day before. The great thing is you don’t have to pre-book but it is possible. You can book tickets at the PSG shop on the Champs- Élysées or you can opt to do this at the stadium.

The cost of a guided tour around the Parc des Princes is €10.00. It’s a great way to get a real feel of the place which is pretty impressive to say the least – especially when the stadium’s empty.

The Football Betting Guide

There’s nothing quite like the excitement of laying a bet on the football on a Saturday afternoon to really get your adrenaline pumping.

A few small bets here and there can turn a game you may have had little interest in into one of the games of the season but where to start? Football is a notoriously unpredictable game with surprise results coming every week. Here’s our guide to the fundamentals, to get you started:

Do your homework

Picking out a team from the match day schedule can be a tricky business. All you have, until you do your homework, is a name. What do we mean by ‘homework’? Well, a team’s form is crucial in making your betting decision, so you should be asking yourself questions like; ‘what was their last game like? Did they win?’; ‘who scored and how many?’

By asking yourself questions like this, you’ll be able to work out the ‘in-form’ teams of the moment. Conversely, you’ll be able to work out the weakest selections in the league and bet against them.

What bet works best for you?

Defining what you want out of your bet is a good place to start. The most obvious factors are how much you’re willing to stake as well as how much you’d like to win- after all, putting ten pounds on a thousand to one bet may sound tempting but you’re more likely to lose that ten pounds than make ten thousand.

Online gaming websites often have an instant bet calculator which shows you exactly how much you’re likely to win from your proposed bets and here are two types of bet to consider laying:

Accumulator

Instead of betting a large amount on one fixture, betting on an accumulator is a great way to increase your odds at the same time as decreasing your stake. On any given day there are likely to be large favourites to win, so by putting a bet on more than one result you can massively increase your potential pay out.

Look for teams called ‘bankers’, these usually consist of three or four favourites which are there to ‘bulk out’ your accumulator- adding riskier teams at the end will increase your potential pay out further.

Of course, if you’re looking for something a little more skilful that doesn’t rely completely on others’ luck then try a few hands of poker but remembering first to read a decent poker blog.

Scorecast

Perhaps one of the more challenging bets to lay, the scorecast can simply be described as picking the correct final score. If you’ve done your homework as described above, you’ll quickly see how many goals a team is likely to score in a given match and how many another are likely to let in.

Of course, this is sometimes a lot easier said than done as football results vary massively- so you may not be correct in your prediction but you may have the comfort of an excellent afternoon’s football.

Adding the first or last goalscorer to your scorecast is a sure-fire way of massively increasing your odds- and if your team tends to rely on a single striker for their goals, it may not be a bad addition to your bet.

Special Feature: Sports Stars And Their Bling

The sports industry is massive, and where sports stars go their money tends to follow. Billions of dollars is spent each year by the world’s sporting superstars on everything from furniture to Fois Gras. Basketball, rugby, soccer and baseball stars all have one thing in common: luxury is the only way to go.

The sporting elite live in the world’s most desirable locations and drive the world’s most desirable automobiles, arguably living the world’s most desirable lifestyle. It’s common for these sporting sensations to be wearing designer clothes that are draped in modern jewellery, although antique watches are often found in Sydney and elsewhere.

The cars

Whether it’s David Beckham or Tiger Woods, one can expect a great deal of the successful sportsperson’s salary to be focused on his or her choice of car. Fast, exotic rides like Ferraris, Lamborghinis and even Aston Martins are very popular, with their beautiful looks and high performance allowing the driver to travel in style. Super-luxury cars are also a common choice for the modern sportsperson, as exclusivity is maintained while allowing the athlete to travel in utmost comfort.

More recently, sportspeople are choosing to modify their cars with a more Art Deco or Art Nouveau interior, adding customisability to the mix. Whether in Sydney or San Francisco, you’re bound to find a sports star driving a fancy car somewhere.

The house

If the rich and famous sports people of the world are renowned for one thing other than their sporting prowess, it’s likely to be their choice of home. It’s not unusual to see England’s premiership football players living in multi-million pound properties and the same goes for those competing in the USA’s NBA or NFL. Houses are often the most expensive thing people own and sports stars are no exception. However, while the average person might be contemplating a conservatory or bigger garden, it’s not hard to imagine a sports star thinking of dedicating a room to antique clocks or vintage jewellery.

When we visualise a sporting hero’s luxury pad, we tend to think of gigantic swimming pools, multi-car garages and bathrooms big enough to play baseball in. While this is hardly feasible for the normal person, successful sports stars can easily get paid millions of dollars a year. If anybody can afford to live with a collection of retro jewellery in an enormous house in somewhere exclusive such as Monaco or London’s prestigious West End, it’s the sports stars of the world.

The jewellery

Cars have to be left in car parks, and according to my travel guide you can’t take your house with you as you journey around. If you’re a sports star with an eight figure bank balance, how do you ensure you’re making a statement about your wealth wherever you are? Some people wear hugely expensive earrings, rings or maybe even a bracelet. The most common option, however, is to wear beautiful, classic time pieces that reflect personality and flair. Vintage watches and jewellery are especially fashionable in 2013, with March set to see people buying retro jewellery in record numbers.

Of all of the world’s watches, the ones that carry the biggest prices are made by hand in Switzerland: Breitling, Rolex and Patek Philippe are just three of the most famous luxury timepiece brand. One of the most attractive aspects of a vintage timepiece, like vintage engagement rings, is the story behind the item.

Vintage jewellery has a specific story behind it which can be discovered by the owner, transforming a special watch or piece of jewellery into a priceless one. It’s this exclusive and expensive appeal which draws sports stars in their thousands to luxury timepieces, and for Rolex watches in Sydney in particular.

Too much money!?

The lavish lifestyle of the world famous sportsperson is routinely criticised. Some people will always make the argument that, at the heart of all of this ‘bling’, there is an athlete desperate to show off. While this may or not be the case, the world’s sports stars do it in style.

Exotic supercars, Hollywood mansions and iconic watches are all weapons in the modern sports star’s arsenal in the hunt for sponsorship and branding deals, so maybe we can’t blame them after all. Either way, world famous sporting heroes are some of the richest people in the world and love or hate their excessive spending they’re not going anywhere soon!

Match Preview: The Le Classique

Carlo Ancelotti is perhaps the luckiest manager in the world. The squad he has at PSG is one any manager would give an arm for. The array of talent at his disposal is frightening in all ramifications. To add class and elegance to quality and talent, David Beckham otherwise known as ‘Golden Balls’ joined the pool of talent in January and has been added to the squad to face third placed Marseille tonight at the Parc de Princes.

Paris St Germain have been busy off the field, creating their new logo and club symbol. However, nothing is bigger and more important than tonight’s match which could see the Parisiens go eight points clear of their rivals or be pegged back to two. It could also remain five if there’s a repeat of the scoreline at the Velodrome. A match that ended 2-2 thanks to braces from Ibrahimovic and Andre Pierre-Gignac.

The inclusion of David Beckham has made the world more aware of this very high profile match. The LFP would not have believed that this match would garner so much attention and media hype/coverage. The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA)–owners of PSG have made it possible for the French League to gain global recognition like other top leagues in European football.

Carlo has hinted that the former England skipper could start the game. The Champions League winning manager is still faced with the Menez-Moura right wing war which is ensuing. Captain Thiago Silva is still sidelined alongside namesake Thiago Motta. Talisman, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to feature after the controversy surrounding his eligibility to start tonight’s game was cleared by the Ligue 1 governing body. Other than these, the League leaders have a fully fit squad to pick from.

Elie Baup’s Marseille are heavily depleted. Benoit Cheyrou has pulled out of the squad for tonight’s game and the crunch Coupe de France game v the same opponents in midweek. That leaves the new boss short of options in midfield. Dede Ayew’s kid brother, Jordan is suspended for the next two games and Morgan Amalfitano is unavailable due to a knee injury he is still carrying. Latest acquisition. Alaixys Romao will be brought in to partner on-loan QPR player, Joey Barton in midfield. Loic Remy has since been sold to the Rs, so that leaves Elie with Gignac as his main striker.

Despite PSG’s loss at Sochaux last weekend, they still maintain their lead/position in the League. Lyon cut the lead to three points with a fantastic 4-0 demolition of Bordeaux at the Chaban Delmas which is a very difficult place to win. Today’s encounter promises to be entertaining and it might take a moment of brilliance from one of the stars of both sides to swing the match.

Salvatore Sirigu is no longer unbeatable. Kadir, the exceptional Valbuena and Dede Ayew who benefited from his absence at the ANC can hurt Les Parisiens.

Probable Lineups–

PSG- Sirigu, Jallet, Sakho, Alex, Maxwell, Verratti, Matuidi, Lucas Moura/Beckham/Menez, Pastore, Pocho Lavezzi, Ibrahimovic

MARSEILLE- Mandanda, Fanni, N;koulou, Lucas Mendes, Morel, Barton, Romao, Kadir, Valbuena, A.Ayew, Gignac

Pocho Lavezzi started his PSG career on a shaky foundation but has come in leaps and bounds in the last 2 months, scoring important goals and putting in impressive performances. Most recently in the 2-1 win at Valencia. El Flaco Pastore hasn’t really shown the stuff he’s truly made of. He’s getting there gradually and cannot be overlooked.

Lucas Moura who chose France instead of England has been playing some unreal football since his much publicised arrival. His rift with Menez concerning who stars in the right side of the PSG attack will only make his performance levels soar.  The loss of Thiago Silva to injury hasn’t had a negative impact on the league leaders. Former skipper, Mamadou Sakho has been an able deputy recapturing that amazing form that made him one of the most sought after defenders in the world a few years ago. Sylvain Armand and Alex are not exactly lightweight.

Marseille’s Nic N’Koulou is determined to stop Ibracadabra. To do this, he must play the game of his life. His boasts before the first meeting was not taken lightly by Ibra and his brace was the perfect answer to the young defender’s rants.

He has quality and must show it at the PdP today.

Do Overpaid Football Players Encourage Or Discourage Participation In The Game?

Getting the nation fit and active is a huge challenge. Sports leagues are a great way to do this, and one of the most popular sports is, unsurprisingly, football. Football is the worlds most popular sport with an enormous worldwide audience, as a result there’s a huge amount of money in the beautiful game.

But one of the negative factors associated with the game is the astronomical wages demanded by the top players. With wages continuing to increase, the question of whether these overpaid players encourage or discourage participation is an important one.

Household Names

David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi – these football players, and others superstars of the sport, are household names around the world. But not only do they have exceptional talents – they also earn huge amounts of money.

Messi’s base salary is currently $15.44 million after agreeing to a new deal with Barcelona in December 2012. However, with all of the added bonuses, he will be paid a massive $44.68 million in 2013 – and that’s not even counting his sponsorship deals.

The money is staggering – but is it a good thing?

The Youth Effect

Young boys have always dreamed of being star football players. However, whereas in the past this was mainly driven by a love of the game and the idea of being a hero, these days there is another incentive: money.

Soccer players are very wealthy celebrities, and many lead lifestyles that most people can only dream of. As a result, it is not hard to assume that many young people are drawn to the game by their desire for the fame and riches that go with being a top player.

There are fears that if young boys are dreaming of the lifestyles that go with being rich, and who are regularly influenced by the antics of various high-profile football players in the media, they will go into the game for all the wrong reasons.

However, whatever the fears that young people will be attracted to the sport for the wrong reasons, it seems that something altogether different is happening: participation in the sport is actually falling.

Falling Participation

Back in 2011, the BBC reported on the falling numbers of participation in grassroots football in England. The amount of people participating in soccer was falling, and the drop was especially significant in the 16-to-19 year group.

The FA was threatened by Sport England with the withdrawal of funding to the tune of £25 million, and it was so concerned that it launched the Just Play initiative.

So what is this fall in participation linked to?

There are a number of possible reasons, including fewer referees, the growing popularity of computer games and busier lifestyles. However, whatever the cause, it is clear that the rising amount of money being paid to the superstars of the sport is not exactly boosting participation in the game.

Disconnected Fans

Most people participating in a football league will not be encouraged or discouraged by the wages of professional players – after all, they are not trying to make a career out of it. However, the danger is that the average fan can start to feel disconnected with football.

When fans start to see players who care more about money than football, this could have an adverse impact on fans – especially if higher wages are funded by higher-priced tickets on match day.

Authorities Need to Invest at a Grassroots Level

Whether or not overpaid football players are having a positive or negative effect on participation, one argument is clear: more needs to be done to put money into grassroots facilities to encourage greater participation in the sport from schools through to casual local leagues.

Youngsters will look up to the top players, and they may even want to emulate their lifestyles. But it is a love of the game that should be promoted more than anything, and this is where promoting local leagues and investing in local facilities is really going to pay off.

Do you want to fly like Messi? Then follow the tips below.

No soccer team can ever dream of doing well without a reliable goalkeeper. The goalkeeper forms the last line of a team’s defense. It is such a key position that it plays a crucial role in determining the result of a match.

For instance, a team that is doing poorly in defense and is not being able to stop the opponent from coming up with one attack after another, can get away with a draw just because of having a great goalkeeper who helps them to keep a clean score sheet with some spectacular saves. Mentioned below are some useful tips that will help you in becoming a good goalkeeper.

Do Not Lose Focus on the Ball

A mistake that novice goalkeepers often commit is that they start watching the ball only when it is there inside the penalty box. It is necessary for a goalkeeper to keep seeing the ball each and every moment. Even when the ball is far away from you, you need to keep watching it so that you do not find yourself unprepared when the opposition suddenly comes inside your penalty box.

Many goalkeepers have realized later how dangerous it can be if the eyes are not on the ball all the time.

Be Prepared for Leaving the Penalty Box

The main aim of a goalie is to prevent the shots of the opposition players from entering inside the goal. However, you can find such situations in a match where it is necessary for you to come out of the penalty box. But it is not wise to perform this act frequently as the opponent will always be ready to capitalize on the slightest of mistake from your part. You should be ready to leave the goal line and attack the ball when it is required.

When you make a run towards the ball, you should be full of determination and confidence that you will either clear away the ball from the feet of the opponent striker or stop him successfully.

Reach for the Crosses

Before jumping up in the air for saving the ball, you must ensure that it will actually be possible for you to reach for the ball. It is quite challenging for a goalkeeper to determine whether he should or should not jump for intercepting the cross. This is actually something that you will get to learn with the matches you play.

It is with experience that you will develop the capability of anticipating. If ever you end up losing the ball even after jumping, then the opponent strikers will waste no time in capitalizing on the opportunity that you have presented them.

Do Not Repeat Your Mistakes

It is absolutely necessary for a goalie to realize his mistakes and learn from them. While playing, it is quite obvious that you will make mistakes and you should use them as learning curves. It is extremely essential for you to have sufficient amount of confidence in yourself.

Mentioned above are some highly useful tips that you will enable you to polish your goalkeeping skills and will take you further in your football career.

Special Feature: The Best Young Stars of Ligue 1

Kurt Zouma

Zouma is a central defender who plays for Saint-Étienne. The 18-year-old was born in Lyon and has appeared 27 times for Les Verts since making his debut in 2011. The France under-19 international has been subject to interest from Premier League leaders Manchester United if you believe reports in the media.

Zouma is 6ft 2in and has started in ten league matches so far this season. He was believed to be valued at £8m in the January transfer window and has recently signed a new contract to keep his suitors away. The new deal will keep him under contract at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard until 2017 but the club are expecting to receive offers in the summer and hope that the long-term deal will increase the asking price for the youngster.

Younes Belhanda

Another young footballer with talent, Belhanda was reportedly the subject of interest from Italian giants Inter Milan in the January transfer window and a deal for the Montpellier midfielder was believed to be close. The deal didn’t go through however and Belhanda will be looking to increase Montpellier’s lowly position of 8th in Ligue 1 after they finished as Champions in the last campaign.

The 22-year-old has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, including six in the Champions League before La Paillade were knocked out of the competition at the group stages. Despite being born in France and representing France at under-20 level, Belhanda is a Moroccan international having chosen in 2010 to represent them.

He was a key figure as Montpellier won the league last season, scoring 12 goals in 28 appearances, and being rewarded with the French Young Player of the Year Award.

Mamadou Sakho

Sakho is well known in France by his outrageous hairstyles but what he should be known for is his unquestionable presence on the pitch. Only 22 years old, Sakho has already clocked up 139 appearances for Paris Saint Germain and eleven French caps since making his debut for the national side in 2010 against England.

He was the winner of the Young Player of the Year Award in the 2010/11 season after making 22 appearances for the side based in the capital.

The 6ft 2in defender is predominantly a centre back, but can also do a job at left back. He has made 17 appearances in the league so far this season as Paris Saint Germain are currently three points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

Interest in England has been high for the powerful defender, with Premier League Champions Manchester City reportedly interested in acquiring his services.
