Why did Arsenal lose against AC Milan?

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Many people wonder; what happened to Arsenal on Wednesday night? It was a depressing night for Arsenal fans and a shocking night for football experts, and sadly it was the last match for Arsenal legend, the King Thierry Henry.

Why Arsenal lost? Let’s see:

1) Poor mentality:

If you looked at Arsenal players’ faces during the match, you would think that they already lost the match in their minds. I mean their confidence was very low, the atmosphere was dark, they didn’t fight back, and they just succumbed to the fact that AC Milan is the better side.

2) AC Milan:

Nonetheless, AC Milan played an outstanding match. Robinho was great, Ibra was amazing as usual, and KPB did his thing. The players were ready mentally and physically, the back line was solid and Abbiati had a match to remember.

3) The stadium ground and the second goal:

It was obvious that the ground was in bad shape, I mean both sides of the pitch looked more of a vegetable farm than a football field. Something was wrong there and a lot of people noticed that. Also there is some suspicions on the second goal, I’m not in a position to say it was offside, but a lot of experts stated that, and the second goal killed the game.

4) Injuries and bad performances:

The most important player for Arsenal besides Van Persie, is Jack Wilshere. The player is irreplaceable, the team suffered a lot without him, and to be honest; it’s just hard to put any player in his position. Add to that, the German international defender Per Mertesacker, was also sidelined due to an unbelievable injury, which made things worse for the team.

Besides that, if you exclude RVP and Henry and Chamberlain, the whole team had a disappointing match, they were not in their game and it cost them.
