Where does Arsenal go from here?

After Arsenal's embarrassing yet shocking 4-0 defeat to AC Milan in their first leg champions league clash, most fan boys (and girls) will be pleading for more signings to be made whilst calling for the heads of so called dead wood such as Arshavin, Squillaci and Chamakh to name a few. Whilst that may be a solution to some of the problems the club is facing, there are a few other issues that should be addressed first.

Stan Kroenke, Arsenal's majority shareholder and owner of several other sports teams in the US-it's hard not to imagine that the only reason he bought into the club was for investment purposes.

Kroenke... does he care about success?

If Kroenke or the board cared about the success of the club, their main goal would be to win trophies. As it stands, they are more than happy to finish in the top 4, so much so, that they even told their shareholders at the start of the season that this was their target.

It wouldn't hurt the club if the board was a little more ambitious, especially when you look at how hungry for success the owners of other rival clubs are, so getting a new set of owners/board of directors who are willing to do anything in their power to make the team win silverware would improve Arsenal.

The second thing that needs to be addressed is their system. Whilst in the past the focus of keeping possession of the ball done Arsenal wonders, at this present time it doesn't take a genius to work out that this system is no longer getting results.

Whether it's down to the lack of quality players to pull it off or that other teams have just figured out how to exploit it-the current system needs an overhaul so that Arsenal rely on more than one strategy going into games. This would catch their opponents off guard as they wouldn't know what to expect when playing against them and no doubt increase their chances of winning.

The team’s reliance on Robin Van Persie can also be a hindrance on the squad. Any team who plays against Arsenal only needs to keep RVP at bay to cause them trouble, as there is no other player on the team who can pose much of a scoring threat.

 Van Persie.... over-reliance

Whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks set to join RVP as their main goal scorer, it still doesn't give the team enough fire power to easily close off matches. Players like Walcott, Gervinho, Park, Arshavin and Chamakh should spend more time practising on their finishing, so that they can regularly get on the goal scoring sheet.

These are just a few of the things that could be done, to significantly improve the club, but whether any of this is going to be done or even identified for that matter, is a story in its self.

Whatever the solution is to Arsenal's problems something needs to be done before it is too late!
