This past week reminds me a lot about last season when Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League in the hands of Barcelona & lost the finals of Carling Cup to Birmingham City in close proximity. We may not be officially out of the CL but I don't believe myself to be as optimistic as @sexyfootball_EU (Twitter). With the players out injured plus the huge advantage Milan have, they'll just come to the Emirates and "park the bus".
This post is about next season. What can we do to change what has been going on for roughly seven years and only seems to be getting worse. No matter what anyone says there have to be some departures. Not just in terms of players but also staff. Our medics need to be checked out. At 1st I thought it was just bad luck but the way Coquelin went out of the Sunderland game only minutes after the start made me to ponder.
I am not going to jump on the #WengerOut bandwagon, even though he too is partially at fault. I read something recently about insanity being a person doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Well, we might have to look at Wenger for that.
In terms of players, Squillaci, Almunia, Chamakh are all players, that I can't think of any Arsenal fan who would want them to still be in the club next season. Other players include Arshavin, Walcott (Mr. Inconsistency), Djourou, and Rosicky.
Vela, Denilson & Bendtner are on-loan and have all admitted to the fact they don't want to play for Arsenal anymore. We don't need players that don't want us!
Now with the funds gotten from the sale of these players plus other unused and dormant transfer funds from the past, Arsene Wenger NEEDS to lose his thick headedness and go into the market to buy players who would add a lot to the team. When Arsenal fans scream for players to be bought, we do not expect Wenger to knock on Mourinho's door asking for Ronaldo. With the kind of fees he'll attract it'll be insane (though who wouldn't want him), but then there are players out there who we can get for bargains to better the team.
From the top, we can get Olivier Giroud who just happens to be the highest goal scorer in Ligue 1. I'm being honest when I say, that he is one of the most complete strikers I've seen in football. Able to score whether the team is performing well or badly and with a price tag of about £17m, surely this would be a fabulous signing.
Giroud.... would be a fantastic signing for the Gunners
In the wings, people have been buzzing about Eden Hazard, but there's another Belgian who's performing great in the Dutch Eredivise by the name Dries Merten of PSV who's just 24. When I first read about this guy I was wondering why much attention hasn't been given to this guy. With well over 16 goals and assists each, in about 26 games this season (domestic league & Europa), this guy is blazing. He would cost roughly £15m. In the creative role, we can look at Esteban Granero to join Jack Wilshere and in defence, we can look at Jan Vertoghnen for his experience & versatility.
Efficient scouting can go a long way to massive improvement (Newcastle is an example).
All this may be talk but the fact we've gone through seasons without much change in result, tells that we're doing something(s) wrong

Good piece mate. Another lad to keep an eye on is Alan Dzagoev from CSKA Moscow. 21 years old, worth about 15m. Could be a great bargain for a player with his potential
