After coming from 3 goals down to grab a point at Stamford Bridge last week, the games are still coming thick and fast for the Champions with a lunchtime kick off on Saturday against fierce rivals Liverpool next up.
MUFC haven’t been defeated in the league since the defeat at Newcastle, on January 4th. Whereas Liverpool have only won two of their last 8 games in the league, and despite being unbeaten at home, they have only won four games out of the twelve they’ve played at Anfield this season.
These two fierce rivals have met twice at Anfield already this season. Once in a league meeting and again in the FA Cup. With MUFC drawing and suffering defeat so far against Liverpool this season, the home side will be looking for revenge come Saturday lunchtime.
MUFC manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Tom Cleverley will play some part in the game at Old Trafford. However, Nani and Phil Jones are both expected to miss out, but will return for the Europa League tie in Holland against Ajax. Chris Smalling could again miss out, but Paul Pogba is in contention for a place on the bench. Nemanja Vidic, Darren Fletcher and Michael Owen are still out.
Liverpool full back Jose Enrique is a doubt for the game after missing the stalemate at Anfield against Spurs but Fabio Aurelio could play after returning to full fitness. Lucas Leiva is the only long term absentee with the Brazilian likely to miss the rest of the season.
Luis Suarez could start for the first time since being banned for eight games after racially abusing Patrice Evra. This is the first time Suarez is going to play against Man Utd after the incident, and also the first time against Evra. There have been rumours that Patrice Evra and Luis Suarez will not shake hands because of the incident, but we will have to wait and find out at Saturday lunchtime!
"Everyone involved, including the media, the supporters and both teams have a responsibility to ensure this weekend is remembered as a cracking game of football between two very good sides, rather than for anything else." - Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool manager.
Team prediction: De Gea, Rafael, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Young, Rooney, Hernandez.
Subs: Amos, Fabio, Park, Giggs, Pogba, Berbatov, Welbeck.
