The Curse of Aaron Ramsey

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Aaron Ramsey's first senior goal for Cardiff came on the 26th of April in 2008. Two days later, a train collision in Asia was said to have killed over 70 people.

Aaron Ramsey joined Arsenal on June 10, 2008 for a fee of around £4.8 million, after it was reported that Manchester United and Everton were interested in him.

Aaron's first goal for Arsenal was on the 21st of October 2008 against Fenerbache in a thrilling  5-2 win in the Champions League, and Aaron became the fifth youngest ever scorer in the Champions League. Three days later, the infamous “Bloody Friday” occurred, when many stock exchanges in the world experienced arguably one of the worst declines in history.

Aaron’s third goal was on the 22nd of August 2009 when Arsenal beat Portsmouth 4 - 1. Four days later, John F. Kennedy's brother, Senator Edward Kennedy, passed away.

Aaron's fourth goal was on the 6th of December 2009 in a 2-0 win over Stoke City. Two days later, 127 people were killed in the bombings in Baghdad.

Aaron’s fifth goal was on the 30th of December 2009 in a 4-1 win over Portsmouth. Two days later, 105 people were killed in Pakistan after a suicide bomber detonated himself during a volleyball match.

Aaron’s sixth goal was on the 3rd of January 2010 in a 2-1 win in the FA Cup against West Ham. A day later, on 4th January 2010, Tsutomu Yamaguchi, one of the survivors of the Hiroshima bombings, passes away.

On the 27th of February 2010, Arsenal played Stoke where Ryan Shawcross broke Aaron Ramsey's leg and on the same day, an earthquake hit Chile where an estimated 9% of the population affected by the earthquake lost their homes.

Aaron’s seventh goal was against Leicester City on the 22nd of February 2011 for Cardiff City, where he went on loan to gain match fitness after his leg break. And on the same day, an earthquake struck New Zealand and killed 181 people.

Aaron’s eighth goal was against Manchester United in a 1-0 win on the 1st of May 2011. The day after, the world’s most wanted terrorist, Osama Bin Laden, was killed by US troops in a house in Pakistan.

Aaron’s ninth goal was against Spurs in a 2-1 loss on the 2nd of October 2011, and three days later, Apple CEO and innovator, Steve Jobs, passed away.

Aaron’s tenth goal was in a 1-0 away win to Marseille in the Champions League on the 19th of October 2011. The next day, long-time Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was captured and killed by protesters.

Aaron’s eleventh goal was against Sunderland on the 11th of February in a 2-1 win. The next day, Whitney Houston was found dead in her hotel.

Aaron's birthday is on December 26, 1990 and there are some important dates I'd like you all to know, which was on the same date as Ramsey’s birthday:

In 1991, the Soviet Union dissolves.

In 1999, a storm called 'Lothar' strikes Europe killing an estimated 137 people.

In 2003, an earthquake in Iran kills more than 10,000 people.

In 2004, another earthquake in Indian Ocean turned into a tsunami and took the lives of more than 220,000 people.

In 2006, a Nigerian pipeline explodes and kills over 200 people.

Who’s the next victim? Hopefully it’s the Spuds on Sunday…. Come on Gooners!

internet journalism at its finest:

"an earthquake hit Chile and killed an estimated 9% of the population."

2011 Chile population census: 17,248,450

Death toll from 2010 Chile Earthquake: 525

i need to stop clicking on links to this site.

I'm sorry, but I didn't get your insult or criticism.

Can you please elaborate?

He edited the article so it no longer gives that bogus statistic. That quote was word for word from the original article. learn to comprehend.

By the way, your facts are still wrong/ misleading even after the edit. 9% of the homes were destroyed in the most affected regions where the earthquake ocurred... NOT the whole country's population. that would have been millions of homes bro.

Alright fair enough, thanks for elaborating.

But the point of this piece was to show the bad luck that occurs when Ramsey scores.

Some people will like, some people will not, it depends on taste and you obviously didn't.

If you want to look at more of our pieces that you might like, then feel free to do so.

Next time, please feel free to criticize and comment on a mistake without insulting. Everyone makes mistakes, there's no point in insulting.

Cheers,

Omar

Hey Omar, you're absolutely right, i came off way too harsh. I'm sorry for any insulting comments i left. That stab about clicking on links to this site was actually about "yardbarker" which foxsoccer likes to link to a lot using sensational headlines to get clicks. It looks as though your blog isn't even a part of that site. So i apologize if i was a bit rude. thanks for taking the time to create this article, although i have to admit i don't exactly buy into it. :) cheers man

No worries bro, massive props to you for apologizing, really appreciate it. We're a part of the network, but we had no intention of sensationalizing or any of those claims. We just thought it might be interesting and it has gained a lot of interest. I understand if people don't like it; death is no laughing matter and we had no intention of harm or foul here.

We have a variety of articles and I hope you come back and visit frequently because we post some interesting stuff in my opinion, which I think you might enjoy.

Thanks again bro and no worries.

Cheers,

Omar
