Footballers' Cars

The life of a footballer is a glamorous one, they get to travel in style, have gorgeous wives, live in enviable homes, and drive some of the most amazing cars out there. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Range Rovers and Bentleys are just a few of the cars popular with professional footballers.

The style factor doesn't just end with the car itself, though. Many footballers opt for all the extras on their rides, looking for the best cherished number plates for sale, and opting for the best sat navs, leather interiors, audio systems, and other goodies.

Just take a look at some of the cars currently driven by top footballers:

David Beckham

Beckham is reported to have quite a collection of cars, including an Aston Martin Vanquish S, a a Range Rover, a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Bentley Arnage, a Rolls-Royce Phantom and an Audi A8. In addition to the cars that he owns, Real Madrid and Audi have a deal that means he gets a loan of an Audi Q7 4x4. That's a pretty nice deal.

Wayne Rooney

Rooney is envied by many for his gorgeous Aston Martin Vanquish S, which is a high performance, 200mph beauty costing £170,000. That's not the only car he has, though. He's also been seen driving a Range Rover Sport Supercharged, and a BMW M3.

Thierry Henry

Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has a particularly impressive collection, with three of the world's most expensive cars in his garage. He owns the Aston Martin Vanquish S (keeping up with Rooney!), the Porsche Carrera GT, and the Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren.  Add in the rest of his impressive collection, and you end up with a garage worth more than £800,000.

Jurgen Klinsmann

Jurgen Klinsmann is one of the less ostentatious players. He currently drives a Range Rover Sport, but during the 90s he was happy to spend most of his time away from the Autobahn in a 1967 VW Beetle, seeing no need for a Porsche 911 on foreign shores.

Drive like a Footballer

While having a garage similar to the average professional footballer is outside of the reach of most of us, that doesn't mean that you can't emulate their style. Second hand BMWs are fairly affordable, and if you take advantage of cheap private number plates, you can get the "ballin' look" at an affordable price.

If you pick out the right cherished number plates for sale, and invest in some luxurious seat covers - perhaps monogrammed ones, if you have the swagger to pull that off, and you can put together an impressive vehicle.

The Need for Speed

If you want to stay on the right side of the law in most countries, then you probably don't need a vehicle capable of massive speeds - after all, you'll be following the speed limits, right? You will still want an engine powerful enough to cope with the challenges of your day-to-day driving, but speed doesn't have to be your top priority. Focus on aesthetics and handling, so that you have something that you will enjoy driving, and also enjoy being seen in.

This post was written by James Harper on behalf of The Plate Market where you can find cherished number plates for sale. James loves cars and football but unfortunately drives a more sedate car than his idols.
