Serie A: League Table Predictions

Serie A is often considered a dull and boring league, but I often ask those people to come up with a season prediction with the each team's end of season position. Watching them struggle to place the teams in a order they're comfortable with is often a source of pleasure to me. It shows Serie A is nothing, but a closely knit league with a lot to lose in such little time. So here I am playing my own game of putting together a league table I feel satisfied with, so as I delay the presentation let's have a look at the squads.
Atalanta -Predicted Place: 20th

The Bergamo outfit looks doomed from the off, with a six points deducted before a ball is even kicked in anger. Match fixing has done them no favours and they have been made an example of, with their captain Doni being the centre of it. They have a lot to make up and with not a lot of decent signings being brought in, they look set for the drop.
Bologna- Predicted Place: 9th

A solid outfit I admire with a good confident squad and the addition of two very good strikers who have been wallowing at clubs below their ability. Roberto Aquafresca has come from Genoa and Alessandro Diamanti has arrived from recently relegated Brescia. Two cracking moves and a strong front line. They've kept hold of their stars and if they're not setting their sights on the Europa league positions, they're underestimating themselves greatly.
Cagliari- Predicted Place: 15th

A difficult squad to look at and predict they look set to be signing for a relegation battle with the majority of signings being from Serie B or abroad. They were close to the drop last season and I think they'll be in there again this season, not that strong and they gave up 50% of Aquafresca's contract to Genoa, who in turn sold him to Bologna.
Catania- Predicted Place: 14th

A disappointing season last year finishing in thirteenth, they also came close to hitting the drop they'll look to improve their standings immediately, and they will also be looking for around mid table and safety. They need to bring in some more stronger signings with the signing of Lanzafame, being a platform to jump from and being the only quality name to be brought in at the moment.
Cesena- Predicted Place: 17th

Brave Cesena we all said after last seasons finale they managed it and survived for another year in Serie A. I think the gloss has finally wiped off and everyone will again be looking for Cesena to plummet to the dark depths of Serie B. The signing of Adrian Mutu from Fiorentina is a excellent acquisition to try and prove me wrong but i think they need more than a temperamental Romanian to stay up in this league after losing all their loaned players.
Chievo Verona- Predicted Place: 13th

An impressive eleventh finish for Chievo last season left everyone in shock, I for one thought they were heading for the drop and into playing local rivals Hellas in Serie B but no, they are here and they look as strong as ever. They've made plenty of signings in typical Chievo style we have no idea who they are, but should settle in quickly and add a little spice to the squad, I look forward to watching them.
Fiorentina- Predicted Place: 8th

They've managed to keep hold of Gilardino who is seemingly one of the hottest properties in Serie A and I think that was key this transfer window for the Tuscan side, who have made very few key signings. They let Mutu go, but I don't think that will concern them at all and are more than likely happy to see the back of him, I would be. I think they'll continue to work their way up the table.
Genoa- Predicted Place: 7th

Now the city is there's they will look to capitalise on that after last seasons strong tenth place finish, not far out of the Europa League spots they will look to continue to build once again after selling their main playmakers a few seasons ago. I still believe the rebuilding is going on, Twenty seven  signings prove that, they now have half of Aquafresca's contract and they've made an excellent signing of forever ongoing goalkeeper, Sebastian Frey. Adding goalkeeper strength they've not had since the loss of Amelia. Looking good.
Inter- Predicted Place: 3rd

For Sale For Sale, is that what is being shouted out of the San Siro? Inter seem set to be selling its biggest stars, Eto'o is seemingly leaving for a ridiculous contract at mega rich Anzhi and it is a shock departure, and the Wesley Sneijder saga is still on going, and is still tedious to everyone involved. Excellent captures have been made with the seemingly odd situation with Viviano, who looks set for a season of bench warming and the excellent looking Ricky Alvarez coming in to add spark. But the downfall in the Coppa could be an omen.
Juventus- Predicted Place: 6th

I'm not quite sure where to begin with Juventus, they've signed Vucinic from Roma and they've signed Quagliarella permanently from Napoli but they were disappointing last season and the loss at Parma proved it, I expected an overhaul of player, but it never came and it could be another struggle for Juventus this season as they are welcomed back to the Del Alpi. Pirlo has been brought in but he’s an aging star. They’ve captured Vidal who’s a good signing and Lichtseiner from Lazio but these are not signings that remind me of the Juventus of old. Where are the Ibras and Cannavaros?
Lazio- Predicted Place: 4th

In my view, this summer's surprise package. Going out and doing what city rivals Roma failed to do by signing big players. Cisse and Klose seem to be a mouth watering package, Lorik Cana comes in to secure the midfield up. They’ve unfortunately lost goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. Bizzarri is looking to keep the good performances coming. Lazio look promising.
Leece- Predicted Place: 16th

Escaped relegation by two wins last season I predict another scrap to stay in the big time. I'm unsure if they'll make it this year. Again mediocre signings for a Serie A team, they're going to struggle again this season. Surely their fans are used to all this!
Milan- Predicted Place: 1st

The champions and they have a lot to do if they are going to keep hold of that title. Mexes being the only world class name to come into the San Siro outfits ranks. They seem to be going for what works will work again, it seemed to succeed in Beijing against Inter. The loss of Pirlo was a shock but I'm sure they'll find their way around it.
Napoli- Predicted Place: 2nd

Where have they come from! Welcoming to the Champions League is Southern Italian side Napoli. And by God have they used that Champions League tag to their advantage. They've kept hold of the main trio of Lavezzi, Cavani, and Hamsik, and have added Santana, Inler and Donadel to simply a few. They look like they could improve upon that surprise third place finish last season.
Novara- Predicted Place: 18th

Little Novara are going to be last season's Cesena playing every game off adrenaline, will they succeed or fail, we will soon find out. Seemingly buying the entire Ascoli squad they’ve added to their numbers greatly and will look to satisfy their utterly loyal fans and give them a little taste of glory by avoiding relegation.
Palermo - Predicted Place: 11th

Last seasons eighth place was a great success and they were rewarded with European football. But the problem now is what will life be like after Pastore, the Shepard has gone departed for the distant land of Paris with mega rich PSG, Miccoli is aging and can no longer do it all himself, he needs some help so where's it going to come from? Mid- table for me.
Parma- Predicted Place: 12th

A good twelfth position last season will be the aim again this season. The squad has barely changed and the only notable losses are Bojinov and Amauri from the squad. They have enough to keep themselves going and to worry any team into playing them at home.
Roma- Predicted Place: 5th

A new age has been promised in the capital, a yellow and gold empire once more. A new manager who is seemingly unproven has been brought in his name Enrique. He doesn't satisfy my need for success and neither are his signings. Teenage South American wonder kids have been brought in making me wonder about Enrique's intentions, Heinze has come in to replace the equally aging Riise. I'm not impressed and I expect another frustrating season. I am happy with the signing of Stekelenburg as finally the goalkeeper woe is over!

Oh and ciao Mirko Vucinic!
Siena- Predicted Place: 19th

Welcome back Siena, I had hardly noticed you'd disappeared from Serie A. They're marking their return with numerous signings in order to cement their place. They've singed Mannini from Sampdoria who is a great capture who simply could walk into a club such as Parma, as he'll add the crosses to worry any defence. They have however lost Coulibaly to Tottenham which is a major loss but they'll look to move past that quickly.
Udinese Predicted Place: 10th

A cracking team to watch last season with both flair and solidarity, but with qualifying for the champions league in fourth place comes the loss of your star players. The shockingly drawn out transfer of Sanchez has been completed and Inler has gone on to Napoli they have seemingly sold their spine. A difficult task awaits them in the Champions League with Arsenal and I don't think they have enough to beat them, neither do I think they have enough to finish fourth again.
