Arsenal Transfer News Roundup: Arsenal To Up Bid For Chamberlain

Hello everyone,

As usual, there is some interesting and fascinating transfer news, gossip, rumors and speculation surrounding the Gunners. Without further ado, here is the Arsenal Transfer News Roundup.

Arsenal To Up Bid For Chamberlain

According to the reliable, We Are The North Bank, the Gunners are going to up their bid for Southampton's starlet, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The report states that Arsenal will up their bid to 6.5 million pounds with add-ons, increasing the fee to 10 million pounds. The offer is an increase from the upfront bid of 5 million pounds, offered in January.

In my opinion, Chamberlain is a talented player with a bright future ahead of him. I believe he the ability and potential to be a top player, but to be honest, I would prefer the money being spent on a quality central defender.

Arsenal To Step Up Interest In Cahill

According to various reports, Arsenal going to step up their pursuit for Bolton's Gary Cahill, due to the concern over Thomas Vermaelen's latest injury. Cahill is reportedly one of the Gunners' top defensive targets, but they are reluctant to pay his 17 million pound release clause and whose contract expires next year.

In my opinion, I believe that Cahill would be a good signing for the Gunners, as he's great in the air and on the ground, and good with the ball in his feet. I believe he would do well for the Gunners, but let's see if the Gunners make a bid for his services.

Werder Bremen Announce That They Are Willing To Listen To Offers For Mertesacker

According to Werder Bremen's General Manager, Klaus Allofs, the club is willing to listen to offers for Germany international Per Mertesacker, whose contract is set to expire next year.

Here's what Allofs said to The People:

"We are willing to discuss a transfer for Per.

"We have promised him we will listen to serious offers."

The report also suggests that the Gunners are willing to launch a bid of around 6 million pounds for his services.

Mertesacker is a player who had a poor season, and may be a risky signing. But when he's focused and at his best, Mertesacker is a very good defender, who's a good reader of the game, has great positioning and is great in the air. He could be an excellent steal for Arsenal, if they sign him.

What do you think? Do you think that Arsenal should go all out for Chamberlain? Should the Gunners go for Cahill or Mertesacker?

Please share your thoughts and opinions.

Cheers and take care,
