World Cup Special: Top Football Stars and Their Watches

Monday, January 7, 2013

The strongest ties between businesses and sporting mega stars have been partnerships with the watch brands. Watches have a value of their own. As a matter of fact, timepieces are classified as a symbol of persona as a tradition. What one wears tend to define the kind of persona they carry and one symbol is on the wrist, the watch. Who chooses traditional grace, who likes to keep it simple and who is the tech-savvy in town? The timepiece on their wrist says much about it. Which watches do your favourite football stars wear? Here is a list of the biggest football stars making an appearance in the FIFA World Cup 2018 and their watches.

The CR7 Choices
With as many as six hundred career goals to his name, the Portugal superstar and the world beater Cristiano Ronaldo has the world rolling around him the way he gets the ball flying to the net every now and then. The former Manchester United man who rules European championships as Real Madrid’s main man is the one that watch makers would not ever want to miss out on as their face of the label. What is CR7’s choice? He is the official ambassador of Tag Heuer only if you were expecting anything less. But that’s simply not it, how can it be when it’s CR7 we are talking about? Ronaldo also endorses Rolex as well as Hublot. Now that’s as signature Cristiano Ronaldo as it could get.

The Egyptian Pharaoh’s Regal Timepiece
Who has been Liverpool’s trump card this season? The man taking on Europe with nothing more than raw talent and making headlines on all fronts is the Egyptian international, Mohammad Salah or in his regal style, MoSalah! He is rising like a real star, some cast him as the most deserving Ballon d’Or contender for the year 2018. What is this Egyptian prodigy’s choice when it comes to his timepieces? He proudly owns a Ulysse Nardin and Unwerk UR-105 CT Streamliner.

The Griezmann Watch
The twenty-seven French Fox in the Box is renowned as a La Liga sensation in Europe and globally, he is Antoine Griezman. He takes on the opponents with his skill and speed as the Atletico Madrid forward. Making it to the list of the players to watch out for FIFA World Cup 2018, he is a star with the game of his own on display. What’s his watch? He chooses for himself the sophisticated style of Patek Philippe Nautilus.

The Kane Collection
Rising to the horizons in the 2014 as one special talent to look forward to, is now the proud English captain making a statement on the world stage in the FIFA World Cup 2018 being held in Russia. Harry Kane is the Hotspurs man who is pulling the young English side with his brilliance on the field. Off the field, the England captain makes no small statement having a signature timepieces edition of his own. Yes, you go that right! The Hublot brand ambassador has a special Harry Kane edition of watches to his grant.

Swiss Class for the German
The touch of the genius is what is Mesut Ozil is known for, a classic midfield player for you. Who isn’t all-praises for his skill to get the ball through to the other side? And what is that the German chooses for his wrist? The Swiss class of the iconic Cyrus Kuros is the choice Germany’s world cup winner chooses for himself, rather aptly one would say.

The Golden Boy’s Habitual Class
The Columbian Golden Boy is the player to watch this FIFA World Cup, say as many Football pundits as you may choose to ask. James Rodriguez is known for his vision as an attacking midfielder, for his brilliance in controlling the ball on the field and off the field, he is the man that Hublot has chosen as their face.

The POG Watch
France has stars of the galaxy floating in its skies this FIFA World Cup in Russia and shining brightly is Paul Pogba. The Manchester United man is said to be one of the most gifted footballers of the present times and it is Rolex which makes for the right POG Watch. Not to mention, he only gifts a Rolex when he does!

The Messiah’s Choice
FC Barcelona’s ace forward is the man half the world loves more than anything, “ the Messiah of Football” Lionel Messi. The Argentinian captain is making quite an impact in the FIFA World Cup 2018 as expected. Which watch does Lionel Messi wear? A variation of the Audemars Piguet’s classic timepiece, the very iconic Royal Oak itself. What’s even more signature about it? It is the label’s customized Lionel Messi edition that the footballer proudly wears.
